The primary role of the Database Engineering function within Global Data Platform is to design, deploy, and manage new products and make improvements to existing products related to ResMed database systems in accordance with adopted standards. The team works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a release schedule. Database Engineers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. At ResMed, teams support what they build; The Database Engineering team will provide exceptional support for ResMed database systems and the products they build around those systems.
Let’s talk about the role:
- Provides database engineering expertise for all database platforms across Global Data Platform; this role specifically requires MongoDB operational experience
- Collaborates with Senior Database Engineers and other team members to execute technology roadmaps
- Promotes and adheres to Global Data Platform change management processes
- Upholds and extends the Database Engineering team’s reputation as a consistent, high-performing, reliable team
- Promotes a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes
- Participates in all team meetings and sometimes meetings with various global business stakeholders
- Executes Database Engineering improvement programs
Development
- Software products that minimize administrative overhead through automation
- Test data management strategies that avoid service/recoverability interruptions
- Coherent global compliance strategy, capacity planning strategy, and archival framework applied to all source systems and downstream data stores
- Global database platform observability
- Provides paved roads for self-service DB deployment and management (DBaaS), embedded with “cost savings by design” and incorporating all relevant features developed for DBE-managed DBs
- Participates in the design of Global Database Engineering data products
Support
- Executes programs for global parity of processes, systems, and products within Database Engineering scope
- Executes programs that enable global database platform currency
- Provides support to development database administrators and developers
- Consults with other teams on optimal design of database environments and processes to provide recommendations on optimizing performance and scalability
- Participates in the global on-call support rotation
- Participates in crisis management support including RCA completion and documentation in accordance with Incident Management Response Guidelines

Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience
- 3 Years of experience with Enterprise Database Administration of databases > 10TB
- 3 Years of experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues of databases > 10TB
- 2 Years of experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native or 3rd party monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- 3 Years of experience with backups, restores and recovery models for databases > 10TB
- 3 Years of experience with indexes, index management, and statistics for databases > 10TB
- 1 years of experience with administration of noSql database platforms. Including Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO); using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools; performing upgrades, patches and installations; HA strategies and sharding, backup and restore
- 1 Years of experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
- 1 Years of experience with AWS RDS or other cloud database offerings
- 1 years of experience administering multi-cluster MongoDB systems
- 1 years of experience with cloud operations (AWS, AZURE, etc.)
- 1 Years of Experience in technologies like AWS Glue, Terraform, Pyspark, Apache Airflow, AWS S3, Kafka, AWS Kinesis
- 1 Years of Experience using source control like bitbucket or github
- 1 years of experience with 1 or more scripting languages (Powershell, Python, etc.)
Desirable:
- Certification
- 1 Years of experience with designing or architecting enterprise databases solutions
- Understanding of NoSQL concepts and components
- Understanding of Snowflake Administration or Engineering
- 3 years of experience with regulatory requirements in the medical device industry
