You will be a member of a driven and growing combined Dev- and Cloud- Operations team focused on developing new features and platform capabilities for the growth of our RESTful API and web-based applications. You will be the subject matter expert on MongoDB and MongoDB clusters at scale for the organization and drive product strategy when it comes to MongoDB. Across the organization you will be leading all activities dedicated to support and optimization of numerous development, test, and production MongoDB database environments in the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and assisting engineers to design and implement innovative database solutions and best practices. The focus will be on deployment, performance, and cost efficiency in client environments.

Location: Remote, US

Role qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of database & software development experience.
  • Expert understanding of data modeling, index analysis & optimization in MongoDB database environments, advanced level of these skills for SQL (PostgreSQL preferred) database environments.
  • Expert understanding of replication, sharding, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Working experience with source code version control (Git).
  • Working experience in AWS, experience with other public clouds a plus.
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt to change quickly and easily.
  • Experience with healthcare information technology a plus but not required.

What you will be doing:

  • Database management and maintenance: implement, manage, and maintain various production MongoDB shared databases across AWS environments.
  • Monitor database performance implement changes and improvements, and provide strategic solutions that align with business requirements.
  • Design and implement database backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
  • Develop advanced database objects, like stored procedures and triggers, to implement database transactions and enforce database integrity.
  • Collaborate with product architecture and development teams to ensure new features are designed and implemented in ways that will ensure successful client deployment.
  • Collaborate with other DBAs in the greater organization to coordinate database strategy and initiatives.
  • Collaborate within the team on capacity planning, disk space management, redundancy/HA, change management, and overall database operations.
  • Mentor team members with less advanced database skills.
  • Debug production issues brought forth by the Support team.
  • Create detailed documentation for all database design decisions, optimization improvements, and production issues.
